We celebrate Julia Miller #21 at our Annual Kanata Rangers Competitive Tournament.
This is in memory of a former Kanata Ranger named Julia Miller who unfortunately lost her battle with leukemia.
A long time Kanata Ranger, Julia captured our hearts with her spirited play, sniper shot, and infectious smile. Her four-year journey with AML brought out a maturity and sense of humour that helped all around her cope with her many visits to hospital and treatments, while sharing and accentuating the positive whenever possible. Though there have and will be tears shed from those left to travel on without Julia, she would be the first to say, “Try not to be sad, life continues and someday we will be reunited.”
Always a role model, always the bravest Ranger and best teammate on and off the ice, all who knew and loved you will never forget your #21.
The Kanata Rangers will “Light the Rink” in support of leukemia and childhood cancer.
All money raised will go to local organizations supporting this.
We would like to “Light the Rink” orange so we encourage all teams to dress in orange, use orange tape, etc.
New this year will be an award for team finalists by category called the Hustle and Heart Award.
This award will be chosen by the coach and the recipient should demonstrate
qualities that Julia had and/or felt were important both on and off the ice. Please see below for these qualities:
Forms will be handed to the coaches before the final game for them to provide the name of the recipient and the award will be presented after the final game in each category.
